yes... even though is is fun to aggravate others and try to get them to race ya... quick spikes in rpm have a funny way of breaking drive line components... especially when you get the revs above what your engine can normally operate at... say 9000 rpm will certainly shred a motor that has a peak power output around 6500 rpm.. connecting rods come loose and then you are calling AAA and walking home... sound like fun go ahead... rev that sucker up.. maybe you have plenty of cash to buy new motors every couple of weeks.... good luck

Yes
Its hard on everything
Torque converter, drive line, brakes, Internal parts heat up, catalytic converter overloads with the extra gas being put out and can overheat.
But that doesn't mean it isn't fun if its a rear wheel drive car and your doing brake torque burn outs at the drag strip. So join NHRA or IHRA and have some fun at the local track. Maybe you will be the next John Force.
Remember burnouts and racing are for the track only.

Yes. You will wear your brakes, engine, and transmission components more when you rev your engine with the brakes on. It also wastes gas.
In an automatic transmission, if you rev the engine too much, the torque converter will hydraulic lock and stall the engine, shock loading it and wearing it out.

well, maybe you should consider putting it in NEUTRAL before revving your engine. That way, the transmission/driveline is disconnected and you don't need to apply the brakes.

yeah, it is bad. your putting too much torque on the transmission which will cause it to burn up. not to mention all the torque you are putting on your motor mounts.
