Notre Dame was a 4 point favorite.
Remember that the betting line is simply that - where the money splits evenly on the game. It may not be where the actual game is, and since Notre Dame gets a lot of people who will put money on them no matter what the line is, it may skew the betting line in their favor.

The "old guard" of the Big Ten is gone to the dumpster for good, and so, for that matter, are what used to be the third and fourth teams, Wisconsin and Illinois. And it's long overdue. No one seems to be aware of it, but Ohio State is basically just another team with a lot of hyperbole behind it, and not much in the way of quality or depth. Wisconsin and Illinois might snap out of it, because they have the lineman and can find quality players. But for now, Penn State is the top of the conference, and everyone else is fairly close to being jokes.
