I would suspect a virus or spyware. Check your anti-virus, get updates, then run a full scan.

You should have an anti-spyware solution on your computer. I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.

This double whammy will help keep you safe and running faster.

Overheating, probably. After it restart (abruptly, if possible), keep pressing delete (before windows boots) and you'll enter the BIOS. Try to find the temperature monitor there. Chances are that your CPU or VGA is overheating. A temperature like +60C is not a good sign (but won't kill anything, probably). From +70C up something bad may happen.
Oh, and whatever you do, do not change any of the BIOS settings, it can end up pretty bad if you don't know what you're doing.

There can be many reason for this to happen, primarily though, the usual reason stems from the CPU becoming overheated. At this point it will automatically shut itself down.

This may also be caused by a bad power cord.

Worse case scenario, though rare, would be malware or a virus..

Check your cords, check the power supply and CPU fan for a bunch of dust, and run a virus program, might as well do a scandisk and defrag.

Could be a virus. I would download something like Adaware (free spyware removal software) and run it. Also, getting an antivirus software wouldn't hurt.
Could also be an issue with the power supply. Make sure the fan on the processor and power supply is working. It may be getting too hot.

Having same problem. Tried multiple formats, AdAware, Spybot S&D, yahoo anti-spy,et. Could very well be heat, So I tried a much larger fan. Finally gave up and let it run, with power settings to go to hibernate. No damage showing yet.

Is it starting abruptly, or only acting like it is set for re-start? Mine acts like it is always in re-start mode.

It appears that you have a virus. Does it count down before it shuts off? Run your windows updates. Update your virus protection software.

YOUR POWER CYCLES OFF BECAUSE THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOUR PC, MOST LIKELY A BAD BOARD OR CPU.

IT SHUTS DOWN AND RESTART BY ITSELF ALSO BY OPERATING SYSTEM'S ISSUE. IF YOU HAVE NOT ACTIVATED YOUR OS WITHIN 30 DAYS, YOU CAN START IT THEN IT SHUTS DOWN ON ITS OWN. OR IF YOU CRACKED THE ACTIVATION BUT DID NOT GO INTO THE SYSTEM REGISTRY TO TWEAKED THE TIME COUNTER, YOUR SYSTEM WILL APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN ACTIVATED, BUT WOULD NONETHELESS SHUT DOWN AFTER A RESTART.
