Hey guys- I have strep throat, and I also have mono right now. I haven't gone to the doc yet for the strep throat (I've had it for three-four days maybe) I'll be going mondy. But anyways... I'm currently taking Zoloft, Seroquel, an acne medication and Focalin. If they put me on something for strep throat (excluding pennesylin, sulfa- i'm allergic) Do you think that it will react/ or what do you suggest?

Thank you

other possible choices are levaquin, ketek, omnicef. there is a slight risk of omnicef reacting in people with penicillin allergy, but otherwise you should be okay if they decide that you have a strep throat. severe mono can also look exactly like a strep throat, good luck

you may not have strep at all....for a whole summer, i kept going to the dr thinking i had strep and they kept telling me no that it was tonislitis or a sinus infection. after 3 months, i went to college and my throat was covered in white. i could not eat anything. all i could get down was mashed potatoes, jello, and ice cream. it was horrible. i finally went to the health center there and they said i had mono and had to go home. your throat might just be really white and look like strep because of your mono...well get some sleep and get better soon. i know it sucks!!!

ALWAYS tell the doctor all the medications you are on, and any vitamins or herbs you are taking.
That's a lot a medications you take. Find out from the doctor if any of the medications you are on are lowering your immunity.

Take your list of medications to the doctor with you and he/she will give you something that shouldn't interact or cause further problems.

your doctor should have a list of your current melds but remind him anyway of other medications you are taking
