I am American and like most Americans I am proud to live in the USA. I wonder how the rest of world sees us. If you live in another country, can you give your HONEST opinion of what you think of us? With all that is going on in the world I am just curious of how other countries view us.

well in my country (Iran) most of people have ideas against U.S. Most of them when they are celebreting some national days (like our independendity day) tell down and death with U.S. It's because of some reasons: First that your government are makeig pressure on my country. They don't let other countries to have taridng deals with iran. They are telling lies against Iran. Now most of people think we are wild people and murderer. They don't let our peopel to have nuclear energy in a peacefull way. The second reason is our own government. They are covering facts. They are trying to show U.S as a evil to our people. And the contex that your government have made helps them better. But me and my alikes I mean people who don't obey others like sheep never hate U.S. I just hate your governments and governments in our country who tries to make both iran and U.S nations enemy. In my mind U.S is a good and modern country and i will continue my education there if i can. U.S nation(Except it's government!) have been respecful for me and it will be.

I am from Canada and I must admit the world foolishly sees you as a nation run by evil men with lots of evil people. But this is just a phase and the opinions of these sorts of people has little substance. We all are dependant on the US for everything we enjoy. Sometimes we forget this and think the world would be better off without you but that is not true. You maintain peace and order and create a balance of power protecting the Western world. The fact is only a small portion of the worlds population controls the majority of the wealth. It is America which allows us the West (Europe and North America) to keep this power and wealth. Without the US we would have been run over by Russia or China more than fifty years ago and probably living in a communist regime. Nobody ever said being the world's police would make you popular. So next time some Canadians or Europeans say some deragatory towards the US just ignore them they are hypocrites. All and all god bless America.

I have been to quite a few places in the United States, and I never had an unpleasant experience. All the people I met were friendly and very interesting.

Politics is different than the everyday experience. Bush as President seems to me to be a very scary thing. I am sure some Americans do not trust in him as a leader but are very proud of their country. We should all be proud of our countries and strive towards good relations with those from other countries.

I'm from a USA colony.
I love the USA, specially New York City and Florida, but I really believe that this feeling is not the same in the other direction.
"Americans" need to open the mind to other ideologies, language, cultures and opinions in general. American freedom works very well until they reach the borders. The success of the Roman Empire was the ability to accept the cultures that they conquered.
Democracy by the force is not democracy at all.

I think you are holding on to an old dream
these are the reason I would never want to live in America

The religious right has claimed your government
your minimum wage is to low
your education system needs a revamp
also your health care system
your history books are an absolute joke (Ive read some and they read like American propaganda)
you need more gun control

of course Ive never been there but that's what the T V says

Well, first thing is... Americans have committed two historical blunders.
1. Electing Bush Jr for the first time.
2. Re-electing Bush for a second term.

I mean, after all the support meted out by the CIA to the 'freedom fighters' of Afghanistan headed by Osama, suddenly the dissolution of USSR and shift in your Political outlook made him your worst enemy. sorry, why your... he is also OUR worst enemy too. as far as I am concerned, I do not find Bush and Osama to be two different entities, they both mean the same to me. One is a terrorist living in mountain holes and the other in the most powerful residence of the world, the "White House"

Im from Nova Scotia canada, and Im living in London ON. Mine and many other opinions of americans when I lived in NS ( maine bieng our closest relatives) was good. we share our logging industry and other fair trades with little or no ignorance, hell, nova scotia still gives boston a christmas tree every year.
Now I've lived in windsor ontario for a while and most people from detriot I met were a lot more in touch with there g.w.bush roots, and kind of arrogant. Its sad we label people because of their country and not their location.
I would like to add....ask any canadian who is the president, or whats the capitol of USA.
And ask any american who is prime minister of canada.
or whats our capital?
Thats the scary thing about it....we teach our children everything about america, but when do the american kids learn about us, do they even know about 1812?

How do we see the government of the US or the people of the US ?

I live in Canada and I think most of us percieve the government as paranoid and blood thirsty .

I don't think we pass a lot of that judgement onto the population but I do believe most think the US public is far too gulible and trusting of it's own government.

I also think the average Canadian would prefer you still thought of us as igloo dwellers -

Other than that I think I can say with absolute certainty we are all very envious of your weather - Not much else - oh and the TV shows you produce Other than that it's one of those "nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there deals"
