This is a question of subjectivity. No one can say for sure but I personally don't think so. How can a normal human take on the role of Christ or even try to function like him. Its totally insane. Have you ever heard of the pope having special powers to heal the sick or raise the dead? Don't think so.
Its a religious belief to give people hope of life after death. You should study church history and see how the role of the pope has changed over the centuries going back to the days of the crusaders and even before that. These people changed their actions in the church over the centuries to blend with society and the ever increasing competition of other churches. One of the funny ones I like to think about was when the church would sell space in heaven. It meant the more you could give to the church, the closer you would be to God. So sorry for all the poor souls who could not afford anything. Guess they spent their after-life in hell or outside of heaven wondering about. I think its bogus to believe anything that the church does and just know that there is a god and live your life the best way possible.

Years after the death of Christ, The High Priest of the Roman Sun God, Constantine, Emperor of Rome, seeing that Christianity was becomeing popular, decided that he would hijack that religon to the use of controlling kings and populations. Constantine was never a Christian himself but is touted as the first Christian Roman Emperor because on his deathbed when he could no longer fight back the Cardinals of Rome baptized him. This was of course not a true baptism for many reasons and since it was against his will, is void. Constantine created the Nicene Council to create the dogma of the Roman Catholic Church. What they came up with was a far cry from what Christ taught but the world bought it anyway and thus began the reign of terror (Inquisition, Crusades, Invasion of the Americas,The amassing of enormous wealth in art and treasure, etc...) that is the Catholic Church. A church founded on evil can not change it's spots and call itself something else later. 2000 years later after the destruction of the true scripture and the cultures of many different peoples, the Catholic Church still shows it's beginnings in its support and protection of a cadre of Homosexual Pedophile Priests, worship of humans, Idolitry, and many other sins. To this day the Pope reluctantly admits that Popes no longer recieve revelation from God. I believe they never did and that all Churches based on and divided from this church are on the wrong track and using incorrect doctrine.

Sure, he can say he can act on behalf of christ and forgive all of the so called sins he wants to. Since christ was just a man, and the whole christianity deal is bogus, doesn't make a lot of difference what the Pope says he has the power to do.

No. He's just a rich old guy who gets dressed in fancy outfits and lives in a huge museum of a mansion. And gets toadied to by a bunch of minions and people who want favors of him. Just like the Emperor in the story, in truth he wears no clothes. He is a political figurehead, representing no one and nothing. The Pope means zilch except to the millions of folks seeking a magic loophole to save them from eventual, eternal oblivion.

The Pope is the senior pastor of 1.1 billion Catholics, the direct successor of Simon Peter.

Jesus said to him in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." (Matthew 16:17-19)

The Catholic Church believes the Lord made Simon alone, whom he named Peter, the "rock" of his Church. He gave him the keys of his Church and instituted him shepherd of the whole flock.

Does your pastor represent Christ in some way, shape, or form?

With love in Christ.
