Straightening, no.
Search for head lice when hair is wet. Use a fine-toothed comb (or a louse comb) to remove the nits (eggs). If you have a friend helping, clear tape helps remove them under a strong light.
Wet combing should be done every 2-3 days over a 2-week period, with small sections of hair, working out from the scalp. Some call this "bug busting," and it can be very effective.
If lice are found, treat with an anti-lice agent and repeat in 7-10 days to kill newly hatched nits.
Over-the-counter treatment is available and should be used first. If after 2 applications, lice are still present, then prescription anti-lice agents may be needed from your doctor. Apply the anti-lice agent to dry hair for the time listed on the product (usually 10 minutes). Shampoo and rinse hair and comb as directed with a fine-toothed comb. Repeat anti-lice treatment in 7-10 days to kill nits that may have hatched.
Nonprescription anti-lice agents include Nix Lotion (permethrin 1%) and Rid, A200, and Pronto shampoos (pyrethrin products). Kwell works well, but I don't know if you need a prescription.

NO! It may kill the lice now, but it won't do anything for the eggs that are always present. Get some NIX (or another brand of lice treatment) and follow the instructions carefully. Use a lice comb afterward to rid your hair of all the eggs. Be sure to get someone to check your hair thoroughly for lice. Everyone in your family must also be treated. Bedding and clothing should be washed thoroughly too.

If you have already done the shampoo properly....and I believe some of them insist you do it like 6 times over 3 days....and it's not working. Contact your doctor and he will prescribe something else for you. Follow those instructions.
If you have really really thick curly hair, that could be causing a problem getting to your scalp effectively. At that point, no shampoo is going to be effective. You have a few choices at that point, but the best choice would but to actually cut your hair and thin it out. Some people go crazy and just shave their heads...which IS a sure fired way of getting access to the little buggers. I'd say a good trim and thinning, then redo the shampoo. Straightening may kill a few of them, and give you a little better access to the eggs.....but all it takes is one egg to remain...and you'll be repeating the process over and over again.
Also, make sure other people in the house are being treated (including hairy pets).

Since lice are typically on your scalp and lay their eggs near your roots, regular straightening will probably not work. Chemical straightening might, or even dyeing your hair might too. Use a lice shampoo and then buy a lice comb to take out the eggs. Make sure you buy a spray made specifically for killing lice and spray it on couches, mattresses, carpets, etc. Also, vacuum all those things as well.
Good luck.

no that wont work but you can put mayonaise in your hair , coat your entire hair in it all the way to the scalp and put a plastic bag around your hair or a shower cap and leave it on for an hour or so and repeat it again in 7 days or more if needed and wash everything and vacuum or at least stick everything in the dryer. good luck! it's a pain in the ***
