It's either 83% or 87%. For some reason I can't remember which of the two, although I memorized it when the newest figures came out. In any event, it's astronomical, and it's safe to say that being a single mother is almost a guarantee of lifelong poverty.

A very high percentage, but I don't have the figures.
It works like this. Suppose you have two adults in a house, both working, and making good money. Now suppose one of them quits working. Does the household income go up or down or stay the same?
Now, suppose the one who isn't working forces the only one who is working, to leave the house. Does the household income go up or down or stay the same?
As hard as it might be to believe, there is a major political party in the United States which honestly believes the household income should stay the same, in both questions. And, when it inevitably drops, they blame 'deadbeat' men, the Republicans, everyone but the person who is really responsible.
