Didn't you hear about Martha Stewart going to jail? Yes, it is against the law. The SEC is the organization in charge of looking out for insider trading and the Securities Act is the law that you need to read for all the details.

Ah, it depends on what you are calling "insider information" and often it is NOT illegal. However, one place you can find law governing such things is in the Trade Secrets Act. You can also find information in several other pieces of legislation. You must also look to common law (or judge made law) to distill certain rules about it. I caution you, when in doubt, never to disclose.

it is not a crime to disclose inside information....it is illegal to use the information for profit
