my little boy got more gas with the powdered formula so i got the ready to use formula for him. the gas drops only work for a very short time trust me i used them ALOT when my son had colic. as far as the "poop" problem-my son did the exact same thing his first few weeks home- my mom told me to put some caro-syrup in his bottles. just a little though like 1/2 a tsp per 4 ounces. trust me it works great and it don't hurt them at all. maybe just a little sugar buzz! haha :)

My 3 kids couldn't take the powder. It seemed to gritty, and they had gas. I used the liquid on them. I also put the gas drops in every bottle with my youngest child so she hardly had any gas. Just make sure you are getting all of her burps out. And she will be fussy for probably a few more days because she is getting used to the formula. I think every baby does that. My 3 did.

If you can afford it and your doctor okays, put her on a an organic formula. My son really likes the taste and it doesn't smell like garbage like the regular formulas ones do. I noticed something else, when I dump the regular formula down the drain it makes sizzling noise(like soda pop). WHen I dump the organic soy stuff down the drain it doesn't make that noise and my son hardly burbs at all with it. I have my son on Natures Only Toddler Formula and he is only 5 months old. The reason they have it labels as toddler formula is, because they are premoting breastfeeding for the first year. By the way, I get this organic formula in the powder form and it doesn't cause my son hardly any gas at all.

No, there is no difference as far as gas goes with premixed and powder formula. The premixed is actually richer/heavier then the powder you mix on your own. You may want to burp her more often and for a longer period of time in different positions - over the shoulder - sitting up - you holding her facing forward while walking around - playing/excercising her legs (bend knees in towards tummy/play "bycicle"/push toes to forhead/etc). Try not to rely too heavily on the gas drops as she is so young and will become immune to them. When feeding be sure to hold her in a comfortable position for both you and baby, making sure babies head is highest point of her body and that the bottle depending on type of bottle - is either tipped up all the way so as not to let baby suck air in and/or that the "bag" has no air pockets in it. Every child is different when it comes to "routine poops" my own pediatrician told me there is no need to worry till the third day - UNLESS they appear to be in pain. They will set their own pooping routine and don't necessarily have to go on a daily basis. At the age of four days i'm assuming she's already pooped out the "ick" from being in the pacenta and is now setting up her own routine - BUT if you are concerned DO NOT hesitate to call your own physician or local health department and ask. When it comes to infants and first time mom's the stupidest question you can ask is the one you don't voice out loud! Any and every health professional will tell you that - so don't feel as though you are taking up there precious time with "stupid" questions - they would rather you call when you are unsure - then wait till it's too late! BTW - Congrats to you and your new bundle of joy! Enjoy your blessings!!!

From experience I found that when you shake up the powder formula it gives it a lot of bubbles and air...which can cause gas. The ready made formula is smooth and doesn't have the bubbles and air...however it is more expensive!

My sister-n-law breast feads so her daughter is on the powder also ( for when Mom dosent produce enough milk ) & she was only gassy when they used a regular bottle , the now use Dr. Brown bottles & they are wonderful bottles , they produce less air in them so baby is less gassy ... I hope she feels better soon & good luck
