I'm on vacation throughout Florida right now and I noticed that a lot of Floridians have caged their gardens in some kind of netting. Is it to keep the mosquito out? or maybe because of snakes?

It's called a Lanai and it is to keep out all the BIG bugs. There are some bugs down there that will scare the crap out of you, like flying cockroaches the size of mice. Not kidding.

Doubt they're over gardens, but lots of us cage in our pools because the bugs are just crazy here. One of the worst things about living in Florida...that and 400% humidity.

To keep our pools clean. We all have pools. And to keep out the bugs. We have a lot of bugs here. Every time you see a screened Lanai you can be sure there is a pool.
