We have moved from another state, where common law marrage was legal. We now want to get married for "real". What are the steps we need to take on the legal side?

I think you have to get a marriage license. Then have the marriage and receive a marriage certificate. However I don't know where

Go to the county courthouse and see what it takes to get a license. Then after you get the license, you'll need someone to marry you - a judge can do it, or a clergyman, or others licensed to perform marriages but those two are probably the most common.

If your common law marriage was legal where you lived before, it probably still is, but there's nothing wrong with making it formal.

Good luck.

Go to the court house for a marriage license. You will both have to take blood tests and then you are good to go. P.S. It's easier if you just drive up to Tennessee and get married up there because all you need is the marriage liscense. No wait for the blood test because you don't have to take one! Trust me, it's much faster and easier!
