She meant that she wasn't she if you're a male or a female. That is what the word means.

an·drog·y·nous audio (n-drj-ns) KEY

ADJECTIVE:

1. Biology Having both female and male characteristics; hermaphroditic.
2. Being neither distinguishably masculine nor feminine, as in dress, appearance, or behavior.

It just means outwardly exhibiting the characteristics of both male and female. This can be a good thing, you know. Most people aren't seeming to take it that way. I mean, you want to be strong, right? And you want to be sensitive, right? One of each of a predominantly male and female characteristic! People exhibit these traits physically, too. And many of the people who do are SUPERMODELS and/or TV news anchors. So, go figure. There are worse things people could say about you.

Androgyny refers to two concepts. The first is the mixing of masculine and feminine characteristics, be it for example in the loud fashion statements of musicians like Ziggy Stardust or the balance of "anima" and "animus" in Jungian psychoanalytic theory. Secondly it describes something that is neither masculine nor feminine, for example the Hijras of India who are often described as "neither man nor woman".

so was she's trying to say is that you have feminie characteristics as well as male ones whether it be in you physical features the wayyou dress or your attituted towards things basically your in touch with yiur feminine side which is a good thing

Androgyny is the property of looking like both male and female, like that Pat thing on Saturday Night Live a while ago that nobody could figure out which one he/she was.

well how rude of her, androgynous means that you haven't a gender, which by the looks of your avatar (but they CAN be deceiving) you DO look like a man. maybe she was trying out a new "big" word and messed it up. that's a really stupid thing to tell anyone, even if they ARE somewhat androgynous. you should tell that "someone" you're referring to that she is socially inept.

It means that she doesn't think of you in terms of gender. Maybe can't even figure out if you are male or female!

I can't either, from your name and avatar

Androgyny is when one relates to both sexes. It can either mean that you have both masculine and feminine characteristics, or that you have a lack of gender identification, and it might take a second look, or more, to tell which sex you really do belong to.

It means they can't tell if you are a boy or girl by appearance, however I'm not sure how you could spell the word if you didn't know the meaning.

er...it's not too complimentary a term, but it means both male and female. especially in looks or behavior, like you can't tell what gender the person is by the way they look or act. they don't seem particularly male but they dont seem particularly female, if that helps....

Androgynous means you are not exhibiting the outward appearance of either sex. You are neither male nor female.
