PETA is a group that had a noble idea and then decided to go completely overboard and today are very nearly a home grown terrorist group.

Again, there is a middle ground where animal rights can be protected and balanced against the needs of humans. PETA has become an extremist group and for them there is no compromise.

Have I said before how much I dislike extremism...yeah I have...ok.

There's some confusion to PETA ~ to which are you referring ~
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals or
People Eating Tasty Animals - Site registered as peta.org in 1996, parodying PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).
Personally, while considering that I'm somewhat ethical, I'm really not too concerned about animals & much more concerned that people are not able to eat tasty food! Once EVERYone has been fed, THEN there might be a ligitamacy for the lame organizations for animals.

Let me say this as a lifelong liberal.

They Are Terrorists.

They have done more to harm the traditional humane treatment movements than they have done to help animals. At a time when most in the world act like humans don't have rights, they run around acting like animals have rights. Animals don't have "rights". We make rules to see that they are not abused or treated cruelly because of our human sense of right and wrong.

They try and tell us how to process meat. THEY ARE VEGANS! They think it's wrong and immoral to raise animals to be killed and eaten! How are they ever going to be satisfied by what KFC does?

It's like taking advice on the roles of men and women in society from the lesbians at NOW.

Don't be fooled by the anti-fur stuff. It's a red herring like parital birth abortion. PETA will never be satified until we are all vegans.

Pathetic people who have no understanding of animals beyond television shows and movies that portray animals as cute, fuzzy, little characters who have the same priorities, needs, desires and thought processes as humans. If they spent less time watching cartoons of cats and mice dancing with each other in top hats and tails and more time around real animals they might not present themselves as total fools. But then, they'd have to find some other mindless cause to draw their identity from.

I like the fact that they bring to popular attention many of the issues that are important, but i don't like some of their more drastic methods. I believe that these just scare people away that would otherwise agree with the viewpoints they offer. I mean "I'd rather go naked than wear fur" is a good campaign, but why do they have to throw paint on ppl. That's not nice, throwing popcorn at them and screaming murderer is just as effective :)

I am i big fan of the nonviolent street protests though, hee hee, so good.

BTW "I <3 you" = a member of PETA

Everyone has a little PETA in them. Some protect sheep and others don't eat sheep. I don't protect them, but I do eat them. That's all I got to say.

They are some what extreme. But I think they are needed as they do things the average animal lover is not going to do.

As long as they don't start killing people and blowing up buildings I stand behind most of their work.

Terrorists that are acting out for animals (in their eyes).

I think everyone has the right to have their own view points. And I also think that everyone has the right to speak about and share those same views. But to try and force others to share those same views using fear is nothing more than what terrorists do.

I LOVE my meat! Don't be trying to come between me and my food!!!

theyre idiots. i dont understand why they try to save animals, when WE'RE animals, n all the other animals EAT other animals, so theyre just as bad--its a giant chain n theyre messing it up. if we didnt kill other animals for food n clothes, we wouldnt be here today.
theres so many other issues out there that really need to be stopped n all they care about is, "save the bunnies!" "lets throw paint at the fur coat!"

i wanna beat all of them up!!!!

oh im not done!!!! wat i really really hate is that theyre gang leader (i forget her name) once said "6 million jews died in concentration camps but 6 billion chickens will die this year in slaughter houses" or sum stupid **** like that. wat kinda statement is that??? she also said sumthin like "even if they found a cure for AIDS, if they tested it on animals, we'll still be against it"
these peta people got problems.

They certainly aren't humane to animals. Here's an example of an article I saw recently:

Two employees of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) were arrested on 31 felony animal-cruelty charges for killing and disposing of dogs and puppies in a dumpster. The Center for Consumer Freedom is calling on Americans to stop making donations to support PETA.
When Ahoskie police arrested PETA employees Andrew Cook and Adria Hinkle late Thursday, they found 18 dead dogs in a nearby shopping-center dumpster (including a bag containing seven dead puppies), and 13 more dead dogs in the PETA-owned van the two were driving. Police observed them throwing several dark-colored bags into the dumpster before the arrests were made.
This is not the first public mention of PETA's large-scale euthanasia program. In May 2005 the Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF) unveiled a giant Times Square billboard and a new website (http://www.PetaKillsAnimals.co... CCF had obtained official records from the state of Virginia showing the militant animal-rights group had put over 10,000 dogs and cats to death since 1998.
In 2003 PETA euthanized over 85 percent of the animals it took in, finding adoptive homes for just 14 percent. By comparison, the Norfolk SPCA found adoptive homes for 73 percent of its animals and the Virginia Beach SPCA adopted out 66 percent. PETA's required report documenting its 2004 record is currently over 4 weeks late according to CCF.
A Bertie County (NC) Deputy Sheriff told The Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald that Cook and Hinkle assured the Bertie Animal Shelter "they were picking up the dogs to take them back to Norfolk where they would find them good homes." Pittman added that persons identifying themselves as PETA representatives have picked up live dogs from that shelter during the last two months.
"This is disturbing behavior on the part of self-professed animal lovers, and I hope the public takes notice," said Center for Consumer Freedom Director of Research David Martosko. "PETA raked in nearly $29 million last year alone, but apparently it couldn't spare any money to care for the flesh-and-blood animals entrusted to its employees. It's ironic -- If anyone else were caught red-handed with 31 dead dogs, PETA would be holding a press conference to denounce them."
Martosko added: "Last month when we launched PetaKillsAnimals.com, we warned the public that PETA was not the warm and kind group it claimed to be. Now it's clearer than ever that Americans who truly want to help animals should donate to their local animal shelter, not to PETA."
According to PETA's website, PETA has spent more than $240,000 in the past few years in one county in North Carolina alone, making improvements for animals. Each dollar spent means a needy animal helped—cold abated, shade provided, water and food given.
PETA claimes they seek to solve the animal overpopulation problem in North Carolina by subsidizing spay/neuter services, "but we do not and will not hesitate to roll up our sleeves and do the dirty work at our own expense," the group proudly proclaims referring to euthanasia.
