I cut my finger tip (actually, the finger pad--the part with the fingerprint) three days ago. The cut was very deep, and I got 4 stitches--an internal one to stop the bleeding and three external ones. I just took the bandage off, washed the cut, and applied neosporin and new bandaids as directed. I noticed as I was applying the neosporin, I couldn't feel the top half of my finger. Should I be concerned about nerve damage? I never had stitches before (and I've never cut my finger this deeply) so I don't know if this numb feeling I'm experiencing around the cut is normal or not. I'm going to call my dr, but I just wanted to learn about other ppl's experiences...

Yes you can get nerve damage from such a deep cut, even if its numb and it severed the nerve, it will eventually regenerate, it takes a long time for nerves to grow back and regenerate, but it is possible

you might be experiencing some left over numbness from having the stitches but if this continues consult your doctor

don't worry about it, it'll heal just fine, no nerve damage
