Both times I've been pregnant I've lost weight. Has this happened to anyone else? My first baby was fine and this one I'm carrying now is doing great too, I just can't seem to gain weight(I know SHUT UP, right?) I eat like crazy, but I just keep losing-25 lbs so far(I'm 28 weeks). I was just wondering if this has happened to you.

I lose weight during the first part of my pregnancy, during my morning sickness. I lost about 10 pounds during my first trimester with my first baby, then after the morning sickness ended I put on 20 total. With this baby I don't know how much I lost in the beginning, but by my calculations I've gained 19 and I'm 34 weeks.

How great for you that you lose weight! If the doctor isn't worried about your health, I'd be celebrating!

Yes, with my first one I was 18 and I walked a lot. My doctor rushed me in for a sonogram one day, had me scared to death, because my belly had not grown. I told him I was losing weight, not the baby. Fortunately I was right and the baby was fine.

Now with my 5th baby, I am 33 weeks pregnant at 41yo, I was under a lot of stress during the end of my 1st trimester going into the first month and half of my 2nd trimester. I lost over 20 lbs. I was very worried about my baby. The doc sent me in for a sono and everything was fine. I finally have gained some weight back but still not regularly as the baby grows, I just had another sono and the baby is fine.

Just be sure you take your vitamins and eat plenty of foods that are good for you. Drink plenty of water and fruit juices, stay away from caffeine and keep your doctor appointments and I'm sure your baby will be fine.

Good Luck!

Hi - There are a few reasons I can think of for weight loss in pregnancy - the first is that you are eating healthier, so you are losing your "junk food" weight - if that is not the case, you could be looking at some medical indications - diabetes can cause weight changes and so can thyroid conditions. If you have had an increase in activity, that too could contribute.

I hear that while you are pregnant, you can lose weight, because your baby eats some of the food, and that may take aaway from you. Just enjoy it for now.

I always gained weight like crazy until my last son , when I was preg with him I ate everything but I lost a little over 20 pounds & I delivered a healthy 9 lb 14 oz baby boy . I was very seldome sick to my stomach & although I did walk I didnt walk anymore than I did with the other pregnancies . I always thought it was God's way of helping me with the after baby weight...lol... congrats on your baby & good luck

That happened to a friend of mine with two of her 4 pregnancies.

A few people I know actually lost a lot of weight in the first few months, but then started gaining in the end.

yep. I had nausea throughout my entire pregnancy, so the only foods that stayed down and made my tummy feel better were salads and cold fruits. I ate a variety of things, but salads and fruits were the main staple of my diet. I lost a total of 30 pounds, and felt absolutely wonderful after my pregnancy, and I had a beautiful healthy 8 lb. baby girl. Pregnancy was good to me.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
