Hi there,
If your baby puts his hands in his mouth a lot then here is an idea: try to use vinegar in his hand and when he puts his hand inside his mouth it's going to taste so bad that he will never do it cos of its taste, it's safe and it works! Like this your baby will have a nice lined teeths with a nice looking mouth cos socking hands or thumb push teethes forward and deforms the top jaw! Don’t forget the babies body is so soft that can take a bad shape if it’s not cared of ! try my tippie and let me know the result. Cheers

He might have taken a liking to it the way some kids suck their thumbs or pacifiers. Feel along his gums, if they feel bumpy he may be teething and you can giving him a teething ring. If you can't feel anything on the gums, I wouldn't worry about it, except to make sure his hands are clean when they go into his mouth.

He's learning that he can put anything in his mouth, soon it will be his feet, his toys, etc ....anything. I had a tough time with that one too since that use to be a sign of him being hungry, and then it was just something he would do. He might just like to suck or if he's biting down, he might be teething ?

Babies around 4 months of age are usually just discovering new things like "Hey these things are connected to me!" and they explore that by chewing, feeling, and touching. My niece used to stick her toes in her mouth around 6-7 months old. When they discover that their hands and feet are attached to them it fascinates them.

He was a reincarnated hand sallower. I have heard of this before. In his past life he worked at a circus swallowing hands. Dont worry he will grow out of it. At least he isnt picking his nose or scratching his booooty.

Babies, especially newborns, just have that instinct to suck, no matter if they've just eaten or not.
If he hasn't got a pacifier, try introducing him to one. That may pacify his instinct to suck on something without having his hands in his mouth constantly.
++++ Hope this helps!

Seems like I heard it has something to do with exploring and finding his hands, etc. It has nothing to do with being hungry. My kids use to do it during eating and make the biggest mess. It's totally normal.

If he is dribbling a lot with it then it's more than likely going to teething. Try giving him a cooled teething ring and a teething gel.
