Shouldn't people understand that Israel cannot be possible an ignorant of it's own history of persecutions everywhere where they have been living in the past 2000 years and how peoples tried to destroy eather they wealth or religious culture or them as a people from the face of the earth? There is another people that lives in other peoples countries - and they are the gipsies - but nobody hates them. While people after people has shown hatred against the Jews in the course of history. And why? Because the Jews prospered absolutely EVERYWHERE they went. Envy, greed, contempt is what other peoples have showed this people and now that the Jews has come to take at least a part of their ancient former country back you wonder why they are so agressive against anyone who is against them. And you wonder why the USA is displaying support for Israel every time Israel makes a move or another. It's their POLICY.

...P.S. It's true that there is much contempt against the Gipsies because of their inclination for stealing and for their general lack of education especially those living in the former communist countries. And some people may hate them the, too but because of these reasons not others.

It's an interesting rant you have, but I intend only to answer the question. Israel was completely justified in going after Hezbollah once Hezbollah started firing rockets into Israel. Going after the kidnappers of one man, though, was over kill. That should have been left to the police and the government of Lebanon.
Yes, we know now that Lebanon has no real government. Hopefully this war has shown the Lebanese that they must elect an effective government who can keep groups like Hezbollah from declaring war from their country.
