I am a sergeant in the Marine Corps and I've decided to increase my pull-up count. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions?

Pull ups is my favorite excercise!!! I think it is the best exercise ever. I've been doing them for 3 years. Last week in school we had the pull up test and I did the most in 10th grade, I did 22 pull ups. Now back to your question. To increase your count you need to do them as often as you can without overtraining. To avoid overtraining, you can't do them until muscle failure. If your max is 15, than do sets of 8 or 10 maybe 3 or 4 times a day. But never take it to failure. Do em every day and try different versions like wide grip and some chin ups too.

yo man i don't know what kind of a workout program your on but this should help. if you workout in a gym then whenever you work your back in between sets of other workouts you should do pull ups. while doing your whole back work out you should achieve a total of 50 pull ups even if you just do one at a time or have to use of those assisted pull up machines. you ll notice your pull up count and strength will increase within time. IF you have other workout question a good site to go to is www.bodybuilding.com

i dont know how much you weigh but if your a bigger guy you might consider losing a few pounds, bigger guys (not necessarily fat! you could be muscular) have a tough time with pull-ups. also do more bicep work and back work (like bent over rows with dumbbells) and pulldowns.

Work it up everyday, do other exercises too like lay on your back and stretch your legs and back.

Do more pullups, the means justifies the end.
