I found a coin, it seems to be gold. It looks like this one http://www.users.zetnet.co.uk/suea/medievalYAS/museum/med-coin-2.jpg
but in a very better condition. The coin from the link looks alike but on my coin on the insides of the cross, between the legs it has some type of symbols. one seems to say DP and the other a wierd shape. 2 of each. they are in all the spaces between the cross legs. and it seems to say "D R E A D P I R A" and the others are cut off on the sides. its not a perfect circle. its old looking. PLease help.

I believe I found your coins online at the following website:

Without a doubt I would say the coin is dated at the height of Norman/Saxon dominance during the the Medieval Period (perhaps 11th century-13th century AD). Everything throughout the Holy Roman Empire had some form of a cross on it (relics, coins, documents, rings, etc). The cross on the coin in question is called a "cross potent" which was the type of cross commonly used in Medieval heraldry. However, I hate to burst your bubble, but I don't think it is made of gold. Likely copper or bronze since currency wasn't made using the finest of all natural elements, gold. The feudal system assuredly would not allow the commoners to acquire gold coins in the distribution of their monies.

It seems to be an maybe a few thousand years old. That would be very valuble. it looks like a crusader's coin, perhaps from Greece. Take it to a Jewler or get it appraised. You could be the next millionaire, who knows?

it sort of reminds me of something from the byzantine era... that is the era that struck me when i saw it. um.... where did you find this coin? well, i would assume that it is a variation of the coin in the link. try to find out what language is inscribed on it. perhaps Latin? that will narrow down a bit. good luck. yeah, take it to a jeweler...
