Around the time they do the amniocentesis and the cvs sampling.. I think they don't like to go over 20wks..

I'm sorry that you have to go through this!!! Is there any way you can wait until after the baby is born to do a dna test? The in utero tests are just as risky as the above mentioned tests.. which includes the possibility of losing your baby... so you have to weigh the pros with the cons.. What is more important to you.. knowing who the father is a few months before birth, or risking the chance that you wouldn't have a baby from that test?

Some great websites can be googled with the phrase "At home Paternity".. That gives you a bunch of resources for the cheaper tests that are around 99-199.. and they also give you the info for in utero testing..

Good luck to you! I've been there and I sorta know how it feels.

At no time while in utero. They wont take the risk of trying to collect the baby's DNA while it is in the womb still. They will wait until it is born.

Well, you are risking the baby if you do it before birth - there is CVS and there is amniocentesis - the amnio can be done alter in pregnancy if you aren't looking at the option of terminating, to decrease the risk to the baby - but many MDs won't do it for that reason. You must be in a difficult position if you are looking for this answer -

It can be done by amnio at 15 weeks or older, but few doctor's will risk a miscarriage by doing it for paternity. You could check with your doctor to see if they do it or know someone that will. It can be checked immediately after the birth as well.
