1/2 _minus_ 3 equals -5/2

uhmm, it's actually like this.

since that is a one-to-one fuction, we can say that (1/2-3)=-5/2

if you subtract 3 from 1/2, (you can convert 3 into 6/2, since 6/2 is just equals to 3) you would get the equation (1/2 - 6/2)

since they have the same denominator, we can copy the denominator and simply do 1 minus 6 for the numerator.

the result will equal to -5/2

hope you got it..=)

x^((1/2) - 3) = x^((1/2) - (6/2)) = x^(-5/2)

you have to multiply everything by 2, and you get the fractions (1/2) and (6/2)

your not multipling, your dividing.

this problem in math form, would be (x^(1/2))/(x^3)

let x^(1/2-3) =a,
1/2-3 = logabasex

let b=x^(-5/2)
-5/2 = logb basex,
by the theory of exponents, a^n = a^s,

n = s

1/2 - 3 = 1/2 - 6/2 = -5/2.

Thusly, x^(1/2 - 3) = x^(-5/2)
