I have had back pains for a little over a year now. I have not visited any doctors because i never took it serious. I used to get lower back pains every week or so, for a few hours a day. Now, (for the past 2-3 weeks) i seem to get back pains every day i go to work. Once i do any moderate/heavy lifting it seems to set it off and the rest of the night i get pains even when i slightly bend over. i sat down in a flight deck pilots seat last tuesday and it felt like two of my vertebrates compacted hard. is there anything i can do for this or is my only option to go to a doctor? I worry they will pull me off the flight line and stick me with a desk job, or worse, kick me out of the military. I am only 22 years old and would like to keep going to school for free through them so i dont want to get kicked out.

**Turns out** i went to visit the doctors just yesterday, they did some X-rays on my spine and said it was spaced out evenly and didnt look crooked, so they think my problem is muscle related. I dont know if thats good news, bad news, or no news. But i guess on the plus side, my spine appears okay?

I know you want to stay in school and I understand that. But your back is nothing to play with. You may be able to do physical therapy and it may take care of it. Go to the doctor before you let something go that could end up worse. In the long run you would be better off. Don't assume the worst your health and well being is more important then anything. I know when you young you think you can handle it but it will just get worse and when your older it could put you in a wheel chair or worse.

I also have back problems. I was told that if I tighten my back and lower abdomen muscles it would extremely help my back situation because it would straighten your posture. I do what I call back ups. You lay on the floor with your legs bent. then tighten your butt muscles and lift your butt off the floor for a count of 10. Do that about 20 times. Do it each day. Also try laying on your back, knees bent, crossing one leg over the other as if you were crossing your legs light a lady does. then slowly pull the bottom leg with the top leg over to the side. This stretches the lower back without pressure. It helps very much. I barely have back problems anymore.

My brother goes to see a chiropractor and he's on a flight crew. Don't mention it at sick call though. If you're at McGuire Dr. Scudder in Mt. Holly is really good. My chiropractor has really helped me. Another good one to see is Dr. Clancey in Lawrenceville.
