We have a halloween party every year. Sometimes it is on halloween night or if halloween is on a week night we will have it the weekend before. If we have the party on the same night as halloween, we dress up scary and hide at different points in the yard and scare the kids as they come up to the house. If your children do not go trick or treating, they can join in on the fun. Have them to give out the candy. If they are big enough, they can dress up and do a little scareing themselves. I usally make cupcakes with orange and black icing. You can fix hot dogs with chili and chips on the side. Buy some clear powder free gloves and put popped popcorn in them. Slip a spider ring on one finger. Make goody bags for the kids to take home with all kinds of candy in it. Buy tootsie pops and place a kleenex over the top and drape down. Secure with a piece of orange yarn. Make eyes with a permanent black marker. You can also make carmel apples. Find a large tub and fill with water and apples and bob for apples. On the table put a fall or black or orange tablecloth. You can usually find caldrons at Wal-Mart, and fill with orange or grape kool-aid. Make sure there is no hole in the bottom. Around the room place orange and black streamers. You can find all kinds of halloween decorations pretty cheap at Wal-Mart. It may cost a little bit this first year, but just put everything up for next year. If you don't have it on halloween night you can have the same food, but have a weiner roast in the back yard. You can still do the apple bobbing. And by all means dress up. Go all out. What other night of year can you look and act like a complete idiot and get away with it. You have gotten me looking forward to halloween now! Good luck!

Get some tubs or buckets and some dry ice and place them around the house and yard for a spooky, foggy effect. Get some fake rubber hands and insert a dowel up the wrist end and push the other end into the ground then scatter leaves around and put up a couple of headstones made from cardboard or store bought plastic ones. Place some outdoor lighting in places to softly illuminate the fog, maybe even in different colors. I just saw a neat "recipe" for making fake edible eyeballs. Hard boil some eggs and when cool, gently crack the shell all over but do not remove. Place all the cracked eggs in a bowl of hot water that you have put in enough red food coloring to make dark red. Let them sit for about 30 minutes and then peel. Your eggs should now have a veined appearance. Slice in half and proceed to make into deviled eggs. Place a half of a large green stuffed olive in the center of each deviled egg to resemble an eyeball.

well, for starters, ask the kids, they could have some gory or gross ideas, then look on-line for "halloween ideas". You would be amazed at what will come up. One idea that I saw online a couple of years ago, 7-up with the green hawaiian punch and lime sherbet will look really pretty. Black lights are always a very cool thing, then some spider webbing in every area you can think of...

This one would be more for the kids, but get different materials and have all the kids wear blindfolds and put each material in a bowl. Tell them that each part is part of a human body. Then at the end take the blindfolds off and reveal everything.
Materials:
peeled grapes (eyeballs)
cooked spaghetti noodles (brains)

You can think of soo many more...just be creative!!
