The definition of virgin is a person who has never had sex. A tampon doesn't count.

No. First of all, you can only lose your viriginity by having sex, even if your hymen gets broken my some other means. Secondly, tampons do not break the hymen-- they are too small. A common misconception is that using tampons, playing sports, riding horses, etc. can break one's hymen, but this is not true; the hymen is stronger than many people think. The reason for this belief is probably that people try to explain away the fact that many women's hymens do not break the first time they have sex by saying that it had been previously broken during non-sexual activity. Actually, only about 50% of women break their hymen the first time they have sex. The only thing that is guaranteed to get rid of the hymen completely is natural childbirth.

no b/c sports can tear your hymen which everyone says determines if your a virgin or not. if your worried about something happening and you having to go to the gyno and your parents finding out "your not a virgin" b/c your hymen is "torn" well it's all b/s. Your hymen is stretchy and no people it doesn't "pop" it just has small tears and such on it if you have sex or use a tampon or if you do a strenous sport. so don't worry your ok i promise i've researched this stuff. not b/c i'm a freak or anything i just like to be informed.

For most people "losing your virginity" refers to the first time you have sex.
All young women have a membrane in the vagina called the hymen. Typically it breaks the first time you have sex, but if you use tampons or engage in active sports like running or horseback riding, your hymen will probably have already broken.

Definitely not. I started using tampons while I was still a virgin and I was not "devirginized".

If virginity is defined as an intact hymen, a tampon can tear it.
