Time is only a perception of ours in this reality. We know in Quantum physics that there is no time and that everything is truly happening at the now time

I guess it depends on your definition of time. In Western Philosophy almost all philosophers subscribe to one of two theories; A-Theory and B-Theory.

In A-Theory, time is fluid, especially the future. (The past, since we cannot change it, is set, though it may not really exist.) The only part of time that exists is the present. The past cannot be reached, and the future is pure potentiality.

In B-Theory, time is one big solid block. It is also known as the "Block Universe" theory. Many scientists subscribe to it today, as it does a good job of explaining the relativity of distances and times and such using 4-dimensional space-time. Under this theory, the present is just a psychological construct. The future and the past as well, it's all a big block of 4-dimensional space-time, and our view of existance is just a projection of what is really happening (or not really happening, since it is a solid block). Our psychological "now" is just where our mental spotlight is shining, where our mental needle is on the big vinyl record of the universe.

I personally subscribe to B-Theory. I've heard arguments against it from some good philosophers, but much of the scientific community accepts it, and outside fo that, it's always seemed intuitive to me. If the past is solid, and our future is the future's past, why is it not solid also?

I guess I would say it's a very hard question to answer if you think time is just a mental construct. :) It's all a matter of perspective. It is important in the sense that it is apparently necessary for our understanding the world around us. Other than that, I don't think it even exists in any objective sense.

Apart from solar (actual?) time I reckon the duration and significance of time varies with the observer experiencing it. And maybe with the cultural attitude of observer (e.g. Australian aborigines percieve time as a saucer or bowl in which past and present co-exist, so in a way "time" isn't a line going somewhere as in the European etc concept). SO, I'd suggest the "importance" of time depends on the importance you attach to what you do with it, or want to do with it. Daydreaming or reflection isn't considered important in our conventional "adult" world, but at 75 I still count it amongst my best uses of time, because it enriches my experience which I regard as the substance of life. Others might say I'm not treating time then, with the importance it deserves. In contrast, imagine the importance of time when you're dying, and have something you desperately want to say before you go. So importance of time is relative, in every way. I think the industrial revolution largely made us the slaves of time, for corporate needs. As the poet said "Getting and Spending we lay waste our powers".

Time is important to those who need it, and unimportant to those who don't.

During the school year, I never have enough time and am always checking the clock. But in the summer, I don't even know the date.
