Let's assume NEW. Go to WalMart and take a look. Try to avoid the eMachines, because they do not seem to last too long. Look for the Compaq or HPs. With any luck, they will suddenly go on sale and be under $500. A friend of mine caught a sale at WalMart for $399 a few months ago, on a Compaq; which included the monitor.

Dell has a pc starting at 279, but your best off buying a used computer.

You could probably find a computer for around $200 if thats all yoiu are wanting to do.
