I am 35 weeks pregnant. I think my mucus plug is coming out. I am dilated to at least 4 (I was at 4 last Wednesday). My doctor said I was 91% -1. I have been having cramps, sometimes regular like contractions. I have been to the hospital and they had me on observation for 3 hours. They said the contractions were not regular, but my sister and I thought they were. I have had 2 doctors and 3 nurses say that everything was fine, but I don't think so. What should I do?

I have been on Level 3 bedrest since I was 18 weeks pregnant, and I was admited to the hospital for 5 days when I was 24 weeks. My daughter was born at 29 weeks and my first son was born at 30 weeks, so I'm doing good with this one.

I had steroid shots at 24 weeks to develop his lungs, and my other 2 are fine now (3 and 4 and TOTALLY normal :-) )

oh thank goodness!!! Yes it is completely normal. I thought I was going crazy when people were telling me everything is fine when all this stuff was happening to me. Your story is almost identical to mine. Every thing is fine. The cramping is just your body getting ready to push out that baby. There is lots of stress on the muscles because the baby is much bigger. They will feel regular but aren't really. When you have a REAL contraction, there will be no mistaking it. Trust me. you will not be able to write an email. You will know. You won't sleep, you won't sit right you can't stand or lay down for any length of time. Your body is just getting ready. It will hurt you. When they start to HURT then that is the real ones. Or your water will break. At 35 weeks. Don't get too anxious about having a baby. It's still too early. Put you feet up, relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. Good luck to you and your baby!

You are doing very well with this pregnancy congratulations... I understand how you feel regarding the doctors telling you everything is fine when you know that it is not.

3 yrs. ago I kept on having contractions and the my doctor told me that I was 3cm dilated and I should goto the ER. So I get there and they tell me that I am not in labor. I tell them that I am having contractions and they said that I was fine. So I end up going home and returning the next morning in labor. I was pissed because I could have stayed at the hospital instead of going back and fourth.

I am pregnant now with my 4th child and I am hoping that I do not have to go through this back and fourth crap... (Good Luck)!!!!

I would advise you to take 2 extra strength Tylenol ( unless you have been told not to take them for some medical reason , they are ok for preg Moms to be ) lay on your left side with a pillow between your legs & see if that helps if not then I would give the doc another call . I had miserable cramps like contractions for almost 3 weeks before my son was born they said it was braxton hicks , I said it was pain & I didnt care what it was called .... if the contractions are the real deal nothing you do will make them go away . I hope everything works out for you good luck

I know these things make you excited but make sure you are 100% sure you are going into labor before you go back to the hospital. You'll know for sure when it's the real thing! If you really don't think they are right...go back and ask for a second opinion. I highly doubt they were wrong about the contractions not being regular. They have ways to monitor those things and they can look back to make sure. I would just hold off if I were you but if you really feel like it go back to the hospital!

From what I understand when you are 3 cm they admit you to the hospital. They should admit you and keep you on watch for at least a week. The baby's lungs are not fully developed until 36 weeks. I would go to another DR personally.

You very well could be in early stages of labor, which can take a while. Your body is preparing itself for the upcoming birth. I know it sounds lame, and you have probably already heard it a million times but you WILL know when labor begins for the most part. There won't be any question to it. Been there 3 times already. And at 35 weeks it is ok to have the baby. It is close enough to full term. But anytime you are in doubt, call your dr and tell him/her of your concerns. Good luck and congrats!! Hope everything goes well for you.

If you've lost your mucus plug, are 4cm dilated and at -1, I'm surprised your doctor has not put you on complete bed rest. You could give birth any time. A baby is considered pre-term if it's born before 37 weeks.

By all means go with your instinct and insist that you be seen and listened to. Don't ever go by the doctors knowing best they don't always. A mothers instinct is the best guide. Every pregnacy and birth is different and not' textbook' I knew something was wrong at 37 weeks and refused to go home until they gave me a c-section. It's better to be safe than sorry.theres too much that can go wrong to quickly. Take care

If your other children were early this one probably will be to. Go back to the hospital and tell them that you are not leaving until something is done.
