The same thing happened when I first got my ipod nano, You deleted what you've got loaded on the computer right now. Then load the itunes program off the cd in the computer again. If that doesn't work then apple.com is a good place to ask ipod shuffle questions

i also have a shuffle and every time i unplug mine i have to restart my computer or else it dosent showe up tne next time i plug it in soo try restarting your computer then plugging it in. that may fix the problem. i hope this helps :)
