depends on the length of the song, the format, and the quality but on average 1 gig can hold,

750 minutes, or 250 songs- MP3
or
1500 minutes, or 500 songs- WMA

(most songs are in MP3)

It will depend on the quality (bit rate) you transfer them to your card. If you use the standard 128, or 192 bit rate you should be able to get about 200 songs without much trouble.
