My gf is having very bad headaches, has been sick to her stomach, and after throwing up was seeing stars. She has also been experiencing a constant ringing in her ears. I have 2 questions....

1) What could be wrong with her?

2) What can we do to help her feel better?

Thanks for reading.

She went to an Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor. He told her to come back in 4 weeks, which will be next week. He said that her hearing is perfect and that it is just something she is going to have to live with.

Thanks for everyone's input, I will probably get her that Excederin medicine that was mentioned.

Sounds like she has migraines. Does she drink coffee? Is she going through caffine withdraws? Try taking tylenol with a very large cup of coffee. Coffee opens up the blood vessels.

Definately sounds like a migraine. If they are that bad, she probably will need to see a doctor for medication. In the meantime, I suggest that when she feels the slightest headache come on, she take something right away. I have learned that it is a lot easier to get rid of a slight headache than having it even get close to being a migraine. Tylenol is not helpful for headaches, (ibuprofin or naproxin works best.) but if she is in a situation where that is all there is...take it before a migraine comes on. Also, tell her to stay away from lights and strong smells when she has a headache or migraine...it helps with the nauciousness. Finally, she has got to teach herself to relax. I hated when people used to tell me that, cuz usually they say it in the midst of a migraine and then I didn't want to hear it, but as I got older, I learned...the relaxing thing really is quite helpful. Breathing exercises help yadda yadda yadda...whatever works for her.

One more thing...this may be sort of embarrassing to bring up, but tell her to monitor whether or not there is a correlation between her needing to use the bathroom, (#2), and her headaches. Constipation or just needing to go, and not going, for whatever reason brings on headaches. An older woman used to tell me this, and I don't know why, but it seems to be true. If anyone is reading this and knows why, feel free to post on it. Anyway, if she is having this problem, then the solution is simple.

In any event, she definatly needs to see a doctor for medication, especially with migraines that bad. After she finds a medicine that helps, she should focus on trying to prevent them all together. Hope this was helpful.

She may have an ear infection. That can affect her equilibrium as well as make her feel like hurling. She may also have her cranium out of alignment or some type of nerve impingement. Going to a walk in clinic will verify the ear infection one way or another. A chiropracter can help with the headaches.Make sure she avoids caffiene drinks as they can make the problem worse. Edited to add : She absolutely does NOT have to learn to live with it.Especially when there's alternative healthcare treatments known to treat these symptoms.man I sure do feel sorry for her for having such a knucklehead for a doctor.Tell her to get a second opinion. There's always something that can be done.

Tylenol, 2 hours later Advil, 2 hours later Tylenol. Yes, she should go to a Dr to make sure its not something serious. Since these are 2 different medicines she will not overdose on them.
Caffeine will get rid of migraines as well as cause them.

Instead of getting medical advice from us take her to a doctor. Sounds like migraines.

Not to alarm you but my ex had similar symptoms and after many specialists it turned out to be cancer. She needs to see a doctor asap, also she could have two or more nerves touching in the head some where, its hard to say exactly there could be so many things that could be out of whack. Best of luck to you

Sounds like allergies, get her some camphor chapstick to rub on head, stops headache quick, then put some behind her ears too.
She needs some Sudafed to drain her sinuses.

See a neurologist---these are migraines. Sometimes they are triggered by food allergies, but they are also caused by constricted venal passages.
If she sees "flashes" or detects a certain odor beforehand, then it's migraines for sure--especially if vomiting relieves the pain.

You need to get her to a doctor.

It could be as simple as a virus, but it also could be much more severe. She could just be having migraine headaches, but obviously no one can diagnose her problem through Yahoo Answers, but her Doctor can.

Sounds like migraines, but I would always check with her doctor just to make sure nothing else is going on. They will be able to advise you better. :-)
