Um - to the guy who said it violates the 1st amendment.... bush and his cronies are violating the constitution right now. Some would say we need to be afraid of our government - but I think they should be afraid of us.

The first amendment of the constitution does not allow Congress to make any law "respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof".
This should not be confused with removing all references to God in government or the Constitution. The Framer's wrote the Constitution to include that our RIGHTS come from our creator, God. Because we are "endowed by their creator", we have natural God-given rights; Life, Liberty, Pursuit of Happiness, Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Speech, Learning, Travel, Self-Defense, etc.
Man created government and therefore it is below him.

If the Govt tried that, the states would exercise their right to take up arms against the federal Govt. A theocracy is in nobodys best interest especially Christians! If people want to choose sin and let this country rot from the inside with immorality, so be it. The instant we start forcing people what to believe in, liberty is dead and you may as well move to another country.

It's a free country, why should or would the US make any religion an official religion?
No, I don't think so. I'm from a Christian background, but do not feel that any single religion should be an official one.

No. Even if they wanted to, they couldn't (1st amendment). It shouldn't be done anyway because there are too many people who have other religions in the U.S. The founding fathers, who were predominantly Christian, did not do this so neither should we.

Can't do it, violates the first amendment of the constitution.
BTW...no place in the constitution does it mention separation of church and state. Just that congress shall make no law establishing a religion.

As a Christian speaking, our government was never intended to be a theocracy.......if we allow such a change, we better start praying that we, as Christians, never get outnumbered in the US or we may find another religion imposed on us...people should be careful what they wish for, for surely they may have it!!!!

NO! Religious freedom is one of the founding principles of this country. The separation of Church and State is another.
