1. In college, you generally choose your own schedule. Choose wisely! Look for courses bunched together in the afternoon. Avoid early-morning classes. I was never motivated to get to classes earlier than 10:00 am.
2. Party on the weekend. Chill out during the week. You don't have to be a nerd, but is there really anything that cool to do on a Tuesday night?
3. Live smart. If your roommate is a party animal, ask to switch rooms. Keep your bed nice and clean, with your sheets washed regularly. Don't drink coffee with dinner, or have pop right before bed.
4. Do your morning stuff in the evening. Every night I get my bag ready with all the books and supplies I'll need for the next day, and I get my lunch stuff organized (I do a practium off-campus, so I can't eat in the cafeteria). This means I can sleep five or ten minutes later in the morning.

Well, a lot of factors come into play. Where are you going to school? Party school or not so much? Were you a good student in High School? College is just like High School, only no CHEATING. Everyone cheats in High School, but college not a good idea. The only nights that I didn't get much sleep was the night before an exam. Cramming all night. Relax and enjoy, college isn't just about classes, it helps you mature. And hey if you get to tired, the answer is sleep. Everyone is in the same boat. Take a coffee pot with you, you'll need it for those late night cramming sessions.

It depends on a couple of things. First of all, you are serious about college, you will be the person who sets how much you sleep. When I was in college, I was in bed by usually midnight or so and would wake up about 9, depending on what time I had classes.
4 to 5 hours a night was usually only if I had a paper that I was staying up writing, studying for an exam or out partying - your first year, try to keep the partying to a minimum - I learned that the hard way.
If you are having trouble getting sleep due to your roommate, try to strike a deal with them - during the week, after a certain time the noise level has to be low. If it continues to be a problem, check with the housing office about changing roommates.

If you party, then you won't get as much sleep (unless you count being passed out on some dude's floor). If you're normal, you'll get a relatively normal amount of sleep. You might get less because you don't have parents telling you to go to sleep (and Conan and Craig Ferguson are on), but you can figure out what works best for you. Don't be scared about college. When I was in college, I would leave my boyfriend's house around 1:00am (Conan was on, lol) and wake up around 6 or 7 am to get ready for an early class. Those days I would get around 5 or 6 hours of sleep, but that's what naps are for. If your classes don't start until 9 or 10, you can get away with more sleep.

It depends on how well you can budget your time. You are going to hear this time and again but it is true. If you are disciplined and get all of what is required of done ahead of time then you have time for fun and supplementary studying; yes you have to study and do more than what is actually required of you to do well in college! I have my classes scheduled where i am able to sleep in so i get anywhere from 5 to 7 hours of sleep, sometimes less though. However, i would try to curb the habit of using slang. For example: gonna, startin, dunno, etc.
good luck!

In college, there are three things that you can do.
They are:
1) Study and do well in your classes.
2) Party and have a social life
3) Get regular sleep & eat correctly
You can only do two of these three things well for any extent of time.
Surviving in college is find a way to balance all three. They are all necessary for success (some more then others). It is up to the individual to find the proper balance that will lead to success.
Good Luck with college!!
It can be the best years of your life if you find your balance of the three things I mentioned.

To tell the truth, I sleep between 6:30-8hrs. That's just me, and believe it or not I get the least amount of sleep out of all my roommates. College students like their sleep. The only time I've been running on 4-5hrs is durring finals. Don't sweat college too much, that's the key to being successful, learn to relax while in college.

I'm on my fourth year at college and i regularly sleep between 5 and 6 hours. But I'm fairly nocturnal. This year *due to 8:30 classes... DO NOT PICK TEHSE* I've been getting 7-8 hours of sleep. and that allows me time to chat online, watch Tv and do papers/study for exams. If you don't go out drinking every night of the week and you learn to manage your time effectively than you should do fine and be able to get your average number of hours of sleep.

there are two kinds of college students:
those who go to classes and either study or work( sometimes both)
those who have too much social life(parties, going out all night, missing classes, etc)
i know most of the people I know at my Uni. fit in either one. Yeah it does suck to be studying all the time, but if you wanna graduate in four years( with adequate sleep) you probably want to choose the first one.Partying's mostly for freshmen. upperclassmen go to bars( on occasions)

No, who told you that? they were spoofing you. It's more like 3 to 4 hours of sleep, but only if you cut back on partying. Or going to classes.
Also look for that class "Speed Sleeping 101" and they'll teach you how to sleep faster.
BEST OF LUCK!
