In a movie released this week called "Jesus Camp" evangelical Christians are shown indoctrinating their children to "die for christ" and affect the American political system to promote their beliefs... Creationism, anti-abortion, anti-homosexual, and pro-American/Christian imperialism. (I think the imperialism is the most dangerous.) I am worried about future persecution of non-Christians and atheists like myself. If we forcibly coerce childrens in public schools to worship God and Christ; isn't this a travesty that undermines the founding principles of this nation?

This was not a fictional movie, rather it was a documentary of real people. A pastor from Missouri and a real "Jesus camp" in North Dakota. She expressed reverence for the training of Islamic fundamentalists at a young age. Her aim was to raise children with the same "will to die for the cause," but for christianity instead of Islam. Point is: Christianity has been and may continue to be just as dangerous as Islam. Fundamentalist evangelicals have hijacked the democratic system of the US. This is not a problem that is going to go away any time soon until non-Christians and moderates go out and vote their lackies out of office.

Yes.
And this is very scary.
The US does not need to be led by an ultra-religious, maniacally patriotic nutbag.
Gee whiz, haven't we had enough of Bush?!
I have.

That is a direction our country went in 1692 with the Puritans. That is why we have the constitution and Thomas Jeffersons lasting vision of the state staying OUT of the church and the church not running the state.

Most Christians that understand the political system know the implications of having a theocracy and they have proven throughout history that they dont work. I think Christians are happy with a democratic republic, it allows Jesus to work. But it is a problem when the Supreme Court starts ruling its ok to kill babies before theyre born and change the definition of marriage.

What good is a democratic republic if it loses its conservative values and morality?

I think they have no real heart for trying for a revolution or anything. If you listen to what they say it's about morality. Only the die hard right thinks it's a good idea to try to legislate morality. Unfortunately they are the republican swing vote and they need each other. An unholy alliance you might say.

If this is your main concern today, then something is terribly wrong with that. We have a REAL enemy that wants to destroy us, and it's not "Christians" who are for the most part sane, even if not the best examples. Get a clue, man.

No. I am agnostic and I'm not worried. You're paranoid. You watched a fictional movie. Think of it like "JFK."
