I've asked this question because of the other open question about why some white women think black women are jealous when white women date black men. The asker implied some black women may get upset but didn't give reasons why. I'm particularly interested in what you think her question meant.

Sorry, I should add that she said these women were NOT jealous, and she wondered why white women assumed they were jealous or something like that.

Motherland...
Sounds like black women should be happy to see other black women dating white men :) Simple math, right? If the white women take the black men, and the black women take the white men (those women who don't mind dating outside the race), it'll all even out. However, it still pretty much seems like jealousy to me. I personally couldn't care less what the rest of you people are doing. If white people want to date white people...fine. Blacks date blacks...fine. I'm white and so is my husband, but I don't care if other white people date black people.

Posture, did you bother to read through my details? I mainly just wanted motherland's opinion, anyway, because I thought her question was incomplete. She seemed offended that some white women thought a certain way about black women but didn't back up black women's feelings with any details. But she did in response to this question. I was sort of hoping more people would go back and look at her question.

I posted the question and people got mad for no reason. Some black women get upset for a few reasons. Some MAY BE jealousy, some may feel that there is a shortage of good black men and they want to have children that look like them, some feel that the majority of black men white women date are wealthy and rarely lower income or middle classed, some feel that black women feel that it is harder for them to date outside of the race because it's rare that black women are seen as beautiful and if their own race don't want them either who will. I just wanted people to look at some of the other reasons and not just think we are jealous of white women. I have never dated a white man, but I have dated other races. I'm not a racist i just would like for people to look deep instead of just assuming.

There is a percieved myth that all good black men are in jail or gone white or gay. Well from what I can see is from personal experience is that some black women are too pushy and demanding. I think to a black man in particular this emasculates them and that is why they date white women because they are more submissive. If these same women would take a look from within they would see that the problem lies with themselves and not with white women. Some treat men like property and not like people. I personally have never dated black men but I have worked with and commanded enough to know why they feel the way they do towards some black women.

It's twofold. A large part of it comes from the cultural defensiveness instilled in African-Americans today. We (especially the women) are taught that we must gaurd against "the man" trying to contaminate and steal our culture. Some women extend this defensiveness to the -members- of our culture. Usually you will find that these ladies also object to interracial couples with a white man.
The second part is plain jealousy. Some petty people can not -stand- to see anyone else happy. They would find reason to pick and criticise any couple they knew.

I could care less. I think if a white woman feels this way she is paranoid and should reconsider her decision.
I have dated white men and I could care less about the stares (if there are any) of black men.
We aren't jealous. Why should we be. Alot of these black men treat their white women worse then they would treat us. Just ask O.J.

This question gets on my nerves it's obviously a black and white thing and it's really stupid if someone wants to date outside there race let it be it's not going to kill you i actually think dating out of your race helps eliminate the racism between blacks and whites it's stupid i didn't like her question at all

I am a black woman and I personally dont care if a black man dates a white woman, love is blind. Maybe it is the white woman who is insecure and scared of the black woman, so she is gonna feel intimidated.

i think b/c some blk women feel that blk men are "theirs" and white ppl in general can just take something else of theirs away.. im blk and i feel- to each its own, blk wht, purple, or grn.... if your happy and satisfied in your relationship, then stay that way... diversity is what makes the world go round...

That's not true at all, I'm dating a black man and I've never gotten a dirty look from a black woman. They aren't the ones that care about interracial couples, you are since you mentioned it. Please, don't blame black women for your ignorance, get a life.

This question is actually a few questions down from yours.
My answer is the same. It doesn't matter, be happy for them and move on. You shouldn't have to decide who you love based on skin color.
