I'm useless at them! Can't even do my daughters Spyro! I hate being this stupid, it looks so much fun. I watch people play them and I think, that looks easy but when the controls are in my hands, it all goes to pot!

There are lots of good video games out there. However, I think the violent ones are very dangerous for kids to play. The big game here when my son was young was 'Grand Theft Auto'. I was told that he could become the baddie and drive up on pavements and kill people just for the hell of it. So, I banned it from the house. He played it at other peoples houses but at least he couldn't do it at home. Therefore he couldn't spend hours and hours playing it as they do when they get a new game. Two kids I know who were totally fixated on these violent
games ended up in trouble over violence. I think I made the right decision. I dont care what all the anti censorship people say: I know in my heart that if someone spends hours playing these things they will be adversely affected.

They're good lil hobbies & extra curricular activity. But these days what with all these consoles & hand helds. It's all too competitive. Cos it all evolved from the Atari-Sega Megadrive-Nes-Snes- Playstation- PS2, GAmecube, N64, Gameboy, GBA, DS Lite, Xbox, Xbox 360, Psp & now the release of the Wii in Dec as well as the PS3 due to be released in March 2007.

All these consoles, the games maufacturers are really making a handfull outta us..... & it's working

video games can be a good form of entertainment but even now not a lot is known about their long term effects. they are disgustingly overpriced but the makers tell us that they cost a lot to produce, and develop.
there are said to be benefits in hand to eye coordination for autistism etc., but there should be more control over the type of games allowed to be produced.

I love GTA Vice City because it can do whatever I want. Beat up people, steal their cars, blow up their cars with an RPG, and fly an Apache without a pilots license or rejoining the military. Other than that I am not sure.

They're crap!
You spend months playing them, then they finish and you have to go and buy another one!!!
I've started deleting my memory cards to save money and try doing the games again.
Although I do have about 3 different GTA:San Andreas games going on 2 different cards.

I think they're fine, they increase cognitive thoughts; speed, logic, reasoning. However socially they don't do so good.
Depends, I'm sure parents would hate them because they'd lose their child for hours on end, but right now I see nothing wrong with them. (And all that about how it makes the child violent, total rubbish in my opinion!)
