could be gas, could be heartburn, could be a lot of things ~ you would need to get to a physician and specifically explain what is wrong with you and what you are feeling.

If you have other symptoms like a flu-like feeling and/or sleeplessness, it could be fibromyalgia. Chest pains were the first symptoms I felt and the ER couldn't find anything. The pains moved around and came and went. Go to this website: http://www.fms-help.com and check the 50 signs and see if you have any of the other symptoms. Doctors have a rough time diagnosing this and will either use the process of elimination or discount you as a psycho. Here's my little page on the subject for what it's worth: http://www.geocities.com/seabulls69/fibromyalgia.html

Tight pectoral muscles as well as muscle spasms in the neck, underarms, shoulders and upper back can actually pull across the chest like a vice grip and hurt! Go get a deep tissue massage and you'll feel a whole lot better. You might also want to start taking a combination supplement of magnesium and calcium. It well help calm your body and brain down as well as help the muscles relax. Good Luck!

I have a viral infection of the sternum (breastbone) called costochondritis. My chest gets really sore if you press on it. It took the doctors a long time to dianose it. I have to take anti-anxiety drugs and it goes away with time.
