If someone told you that everyone that owned a blue car with pink stripes were better than people who owned a red car with purple stars, would you believe them? Then why do you believe that one political party is better than another? Shouldn't strength of character and follow through on a personal level be more important than the political hype that you're brainwashed to believe? It is no different than racial bias. Why are you willing to think and act on such a crazy premis such as an all or nothing such as a political party? It goes against the grain of humanity completely. Have you ever heard or said that "All people are different"? Why do you not believe that when it comes to politics?

Actions make the difference....

The fundamental difference between the two that is very consistent is a differing support of the constitution.

Democrats support it in its entirety whereas Republicans support on portion they agree with. Furthermore, they try to change portions of it to fit their belIEfs or goals... ie, Bush's recent Geneva convention problems and executive powers legislation.

Now I have to give you my two cents and Politics is my favorite subject. I can not get over when it comes to Power and Money.People forget where he or she comes from.Politics can change people over night and you will be shock how things can go to left and right. You are right about a political party and people around them. They all are different and let the power corrupts them. No more principle and no more friends. The science of lie is impact on their lives. You give me,then I get you back.Everything has a purpose and justify.Nothing is free and everything has to have profits. He or she has to be ready for a new term. They do not care what kind of his or her performances except power and money that can make them reaching a star. Wow,this is the world I and you are living in.

Good analogy. And I totally agree with you. But I have found that true free-thinkers are in the minority. Most people are more comfortable taking a side so they have a group to band together with, not matter how much inconsistency of thought it means having to subscribe to.

ALL PEOPLE ARE DIFFERENT UNTIL THEY GET ELECTED. AT THAT POINT THEIR LEADERS TAKE THEM ASIDE AND "EDUCATE" THEM AS TO HOW EVERYTHING WORKS...'YOU SCRATCH MY BACK & I'LL SCRATCH YOURS'. NO ONE CAN DO ANYTHING IN WASHINGTON ON THEIR OWN, I DON'T CARE IF YOU ARE THE PRESIDENT OR WHOM EVER. THE PROBLEM IS, ONCE THEY GET THERE, ITS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THEM OUT. ITS CALLED TERM LIMITS, BUT THEY WILL NEVER VOTE THAT INTO EFFECT, BECAUSE IT EFFECTS THEM. TOM CLANCY WROTE A BOOK WHERE SOMEONE CRASHED A 747 INTO THE CAPITOL AND THE WHOLE GOVERMENT HAD TO BE STARTED OVER EXCEPT THE HERO WHO WAS THE PRESIDENT. CAN YOU IMMAGINE JUST ONE TAX LAW FOR ALL OF US? NO EXCEPTIONS.

You describe the difference between "statesman" and "politician". There are still statesmen and women. They don't get noticed too often, though, because, while politicians are mouthing the microphones, statesmen and women are quietly doing all the real work.
