Thats right- You just didn't try hard enough.. or to be more blunt, you didn't really want it. If you wanted to be an astronaut you could, but how bad did you really want it? Did you want it bad enough to do anything to get it? Did you want it bad enough to master all of the math and science subjects that is involved?
And even though it is really up to us based on the decisions that we make early in life, sometimes it is not completely our fault when we do not achive our goals. Sometimes it is helpful to be introduced and exposed to things that we have never experienced before. I can say that I am fortunate that my parents sent me to summer camp and took me on trips and brought me around people who were more successful than they were. Having this opportunity made most of my success possible because it gave me something to work toward.
Some of my childhood friends are still working at fast food resturants and in retail stores some 15 years later after we all graduated high school. Every school year on career day we would all talk about how rich we were going to be and how much money we were going to make and how we bragged about becomming airline pilots and professional athletes and doctors, and scientists... and even astronauts. My friend chuck used to talk about how he was going to pilot the shuttle one day but these days he still lives at home getting high in his parents' basement every day after getting home from his job at walmart. If you ask me what happened, I really don't know.

Mine told me that all of the time. It's not too late you can still be anything you want to be. As long as you set your mind to it you can do it. You may fail along the way but don't give up!

No they were right, you just didn't take advantage of the privileges you were born with. Now if you were some poor kid in another country and you found the means to become a doctor (just an example) you bet your a.. you'd be a doctor.

Maybe you didn't want to be anything. If that's the case then you are a success. My mom didn't realize I could be anything I wanted to be until I told her at the age of 30.

They never said anything about me growing up. I think they were too occupied with the business of providing sustenance and shelter. God bless them.
