i have a contour. I went out to start up my car and the battery was dead, i got a jump and it work but it was still a weak start. Now, i noticed that my back brake lights wont cut off and dont know why.

i checked my emergency brakes and thats not up and my lights are not on. what is the problem??

how much do you think it'll cost to fix this problem, if i need brake pads and roter too??? estimate??

the brake light switch has went bad on it or slipped out of place,,that's whats causing it to do that,,i own a repair shop,,and have done a lot of these ,they,ll run a battery down in no time,,it might just have slipped on it,,i have seen that happen a lot to them,especially on fords the way the mounting bracket is made on them makes them easy to slip out of place,,have someone look at it for you,,good luck i hope this help,s.

ther should be a switch that turns on the brake lights when you step on the pedal that could be the cause of the lights staying on.also there could be a problem in the wiring circuit to that system like a bad relay to a bad light blub. your 2nd ques/ is a little hard to understand. the lights wont go on when you use the emergency brakes. get help from a garage. good luck.

The brake light switch is bad, replace it. It is on the brake pedal

Sound like your brake light switch is stuck. If you are a DIYer you can go to my group and I can seen you info on how to check it and replace it.
