When breast feeding my second son{ till he was around 16 months} I did not get my period for 12 months. When it did come it was a little spotty at first but then things evened out. May I recommend a book called "so that's what their for" by Janet Tamero. Its really help full and funny. It has answers to all kinds of questions and problems from big ones to small ones.

I have been breastfeeding my daughter since birth and she is now 8 and a half months old....And I have only had one period since she was born. Usually periods will be irregular or not at all while breastfeeding...If you are worried or are having other problems I would call your doctor.

My doc told me that since I'm breastfeeding, I probably won't have a period until I stop and he was right. No period yet (I've been breastfeeding for 4 months)

I didn't get a period until after I weaned my daughter at 12 months. It took about a month to start up and then after that it was regular (the first time in my life!)

every one is different.
PLEASE don't think you can't get pregnant, before your first period returning alerts you to the fact that you are ovulating again
you are ovulating in order to get that first period , and fertile.
In my case with both of my children who were exclusively breastfed for 6 months and then until they were 15 months
I had my period 6 weeks after birth, and every 28 days there after until I was pregnant again. breastfeeding is not now nor was it ever birth control and if you think it is you just might find yourself pregnant again really soon.

You may or may not - everyone is different. Mine came back when my son was 10 months. By then I had been giving him solids for a few months and I was breastfeeding him a lot less.

It depends on the person but no matter what happens for you this doesn't mean you cant get pregnant! you can still ovulate when you don't have a period. Its normal, your body changes its priorities making milk production the top priority suppressing your period, doesn't bother me any not to have a period for over a year:)

You can still get period, but it may delay your period comes back as long as you are a frequent breastfeed mother. It's acutally a good method for birth control.
