i am a pilot and have gone around 450mph. at ground-level, i received a ticket for going 122mph, and have been over 150 a few times without getting caught.
i've never set any land speed records, however, i did stay at a holiday inn express last night!

1st. The definition of vehicle is a means in or by which someone travels or something is carried, conveye or transport. So not just cars are vehicles, forexample, rockets are vehicles, too.
2nd. If cars are your interest, you shouldefine weather maximun speed or aceleration is your goal.
The later is commonly measured in seconds to reach 60 mph, as far as know, nothing gets on top of the 2.6 secs by the Dauer 962 LeMans, almost 10 years ago. There is a californian made car wich is pretty close to this and on top, is the current record on full speed considering street cars, is the Saleen S7... a V8 that costs about $580.000!
Talking spacecrafts, then just consider that a space object orbiting the Earth, moves at 17,000 miles per hour, if you turn on the whole propulsion system.... and jump to a high attraction/gravitational orbiting... numbers would rise gigantically...ummm

First of all everybody needs to know that most domestic street cars do not actually have an accurate spedometer at top speeds. Most cars will not go over 110 mph or so but the spedometer may show they are going higher. People will say "I buried my spedometer" but that does not necessarily mean they actually went faster than the top speed shown. Knowing this, I believe I have gome 110 mph. I would not do that again, it was a long time ago. Now if you are talking about airplanes, I have gone 600 mph.

120 miles an hour, just before it flipped and threw me out onto the grass, rolling over me and leaving me in a coma for 3 days. IT completely sucked. I don't reccommend it. And the bastard driving didn't even have insurance-

124 mph. 1968 Jaguar 420. Not terribly fast, but that is not a very modern car.
