A tribal tatto. If you're Irish or Celtic, consider getting a Celtic scrollwork tattoo. You can look in the Book of Kells or other medieval Irish manuscript for ideas.
Some of the most wicked awesome tattoos I've seen are the Native American or Polynesian tattoos.
Scarrification patterns based on tribal or traditional designs are cool.

For a first tattoo, I would get a Chinese or Japanese symbol. But I'm too chicken right now...I have a low pain tolerance!

What are you most interested in ? do you have any hobbies or collections of anything ? do you especially like a certain sport or team ? I'd go with something that you're not going to regret looking at for the rest of your life.
