Anything you put in the tank, has the potential of becoming food, including fingers!! lol But as Madgins said if the Pleco is larger than the RES's head, you should be ok! I also have a Pleco in with mine. ;-)

However Algae Eaters are very hard for a turtle to catch. You should be feeding your turtle live fish anyway. Turtles require calcium and live fish is the best source.

I have had the same RES for twenty seven years.

Depends on how big the two are. My RES only eats fish when they become ill or he is really irritated with them for getting in his way. He has been known to leave them alone for several months before going after them, usually after I did something stupid and put the fish into shock with too big of a change in water temp. So all you can do is try. You may get lucky, it sounds like a good idea, I think I may try some too.

Red-ears eat fish generally, but if the algae eater is big, it will be pretty safe.

don't put them together, i did that and the poor algae eater was ripped apart.
