College - You have to consider the 1971 Nebraska Cornhuskers. This may very well have been the only college football team capable of beating a hand full of pro teams. Most will tell you this was the greatest college team in history.

NFL - 1979 Pittsburgh Steelers - They were loaded with hall of famers and won four super bowls is a span of six years.

Another great NFL team -1985 Bears. Great team but one dimensional, not passing game.

in college, the University of Michigan has more wins than any other program. the University of Michigan also has the best overall winning percentage, to go with 9 National Championships...The University of Notre Dame ranks #2 in both wins and winning percentage, and has 11 National Championships. If you are looking for the greatest program in history, as opposed to a single year, anyone that says any college other than Michigan or Notre Dame is ignorant.

If you are looking for a single year, I suggest the 1902 Michigan Wolverines, who outscored their opponents 644-12 for the season. (11 game schedule)

In the NFL, I would say overall, probably the Green Bay Packers, with their 11 total NFL Championships

Single season, even though they went undefeated, the 72 Dolphins would have gotten creamed by Mike Ditka's Chicago Bears of 1985. Da 85 Bears were the single greatest single season team ever, despite the 1 loss. The 72 Fins are constantly overrated as the only undefeated NFL team...but, thats not true. They are only the only POST NFL-AFL Merger team to do it. Both the 1942 Chicago Bears and 1948 Cleveland Browns went undefeated as well.

And, don't listen to anyone that says ANY college team could beat any NFL team. Its nonsense.

Terry Bradshaw's Steelers, they were solid on all three levels. Offence, defense and special teams. Plus, when everything went wrong and were normal teams would just give up they always had something extra. They are the best team I ever seen.
