that seems strange to me. we need to get a big petition to our government to stop making drugs illegal.Cops have real crimes they need to be investigating.

Well most people that do drug are hurting people. Maybe not weed but cocain and meth and some shrooms can definatly hurt others because you have little to no power over yourself. Also its usually meth addict that commit most of the credit fraud and identity theft crimes, in addition to the meticulus crime such as meter and vending machine crimes. also hard drug cause people to create suicidal thought and take life for granted. Drinking is healthy in moderation such as wine but doesnt have the lasting effect as some drugs do. Also smoking ciggs dont impair your desicions.
just personal opinion but i dont think a petition will do anything because all that would do is get it on a ballot and about 90% or more of america wouldnt vote to make meth or even cocaine legal

There are many reasons and yet many contradictions to the laws governing substances. It is about what the majority in society deems as harmful or not. In prohibition days, alcohol was as illegal as any other drug is now. But it became socially acceptable and the majority wanted to be able to use alcohol. I think that maybe Amsterdam is an experiment of the U.N. to see what society could be like with controlled drug use as well as prostitution. I don't know myself what is best. I do agree that someone should not be in jail unless they have committed VIOLENT crimes.

I agree!! Cops need to focus on real crimes and stop putting people in jail for smoking pot. Besides drugs are illegal because certain powerful people want them to be illegal.

It's the conservatives. I'm sure the government would love to make drugs legal. Think of all the tax revenue, but unfortunately people don't want to control their own children and would rather have the police do it for them.

I honestly believe that pot should be legal, but as for about any other drug that is currently an illicit drug I think they should stay illegal...I think that crack, crank, coke, heroin, acid, extacy. shrooms..all of them actually do affect the way some people act, and in a negative way, imagine we'd have a bunch of cracked out people, tripping and doing god knows what..but if pot was legal.people would be happy

Our founding fathers used the drugs caffiene, nicotine, and alchohol, therefore they are legal.

If you are doing cocaine and various other drugs you are hurting YOURSELF, so you ARE hurting someone. Have you seen the "before and after" pictures of the meth addicts? If you had you wouldn't be asking this question.
