I need to replace the DVD -RW drive on an Inspiron 600 M laptop because when I open it to put in a CD, it comes right out with just a data cable connecting it to the computer. Is this normal?

{The drive does not work. I've checked Device Manager (no error there), uninstall and reinstall driver, OS reports that device is working, device is enabled.}

Secondly, at what online site can I buy a replacement drive?

your safest bet, unless you know what you are doing would be to just contact Dell, they will at least give you the proper part number, and then you can hunt for a better deal, Ebay
