There are 2 types of tablet, there are slate tablets which are just a screen with a pen, and you just write and click on the screen, and use an onscreen keyboard.
There is also the convertable tablet, which looks almost identical to a normal laptop, you open it up like a laptop and have a keyboard and use it identically to a laptop, you can then twist the screen 180 degrees and fold it back down, so the monitor covers the keyboard with the screen facing upwards so it can be used in the same way as a slate tablet.
(answer written on a convertable tablet in laptop mode)

A tablet is thinner than the original laptop ..thats about all the difference really ...you can order them with all the same software as the original but they are easier to carry around the business world.

On a tablet you can reverse the screen and fold it flat. It then becomes a writing tablet because you can write on the screen.
