It's called computer jargon. And it takes getting used to. I try to avoid using it as I don't want my English corrupted. It does rhyme with dykes or dikes.

no, it reminds me that most young people have never learned to spell or type properly.

OK take deep breaths and relax some are just so fast on their computers that its easier for them to chop their words instead of spelling them out---- I for one, like to spend all my time spelling them out
