Are there any local agencies in cities nearby? You can do a search.
Also, you can look up agencies in major modeling markets (like New York, LA, Miami) and submit to them. Individual agencies will list what they're looking for height-wise, size-wise and let you send them plain old snapshots of yourself. If they like your look, they'll ask to see you in person (it helps to remember that they may like your look but already represent someone with a similar look and so pass on you, never take this stuff personally!).
Also, never pay to take classes and such-- read the "avoid modeling scams" article in the link below. Real agencies don't make you take classes. They may make you pay for photos for your book; however, be sure to avoid agencies that only let you use 1 certain photographer, because they're probably getting kickbacks. Agencies have a list of photogs to give you.

There are lot of good answers to this question in the search box for Yahoo Answers. Be sure to look there for more information. In the meantime, you need to check with your school counselor and get a list of reputable schools. You can then reach an agent through the school.
Very few models get hired without training. You don't say how old you are, but you can buy modeling magazines at any age, or get them from the library. That would be a good source for finding the information you need.

if you would like a personal portfolio site please contact me and I will set you on up for free. I can design you a fully personalised flash website with as much or little information and then host it for you. This site can contain a gallery of your photos, personal information, list of work, contact details, etc or if you prefer just a couple of photos and nothing else. It can be password protected and all images will be protected as is humanly possible, or the photos can be available to download.
Examples of work can be provided on request. Just message me here if you want, I am a professional website designer but have lots of free time (and enough money) so I am currently doing free sites for small bands, small artist etc, basically anyone who could not afford them otherwise. I have my own hosting server so can offer hosting servers or you can host the site yourselves. This site will not contain adverts, unless you host it and put the adverts there yourself. No images sent to me will be used for anything other than your site and I will not give anyone your detail or link to the site. You will have complete control and the site can be removed or changed at any time. This is not a scam and I will design a site for FREE, I do not need the money, and enjoy working. If you do want it message me you can tell me what you want and how you want it done and I will help.
Depending how old you are I may require parents permission before i will do any work.
my myspace group about this is:

If your under 18, wait. I say this because if your parents are against it it's not a good idea to get an agent behind their backs. About finding a modeling carear...I can't help ya there. But try looking on magazine sites. If you really want to start now try explaining to your parents the good points about being a model.

There's plenty of agencies in Atlanta, but they're hard to find because they would be flooded with wannabe models 24/7. Try to find someone who's already in the business and work your way in that way. Myspace has a ton of modeling groups with info. Also try Yahoo! Groups.
